This is a 1/4 inch stereo Jack socket within a chromed threaded casting with single hole fixing, designed to replace a standard strap button on an Acoustic guitar when wiring in a piezo bridge pickup without having to drill a new hole in the guitar body.

Ideal for Electro-acoustic guitars with built in preamps (where the tip connects to the preamp output, the ring to the preamp power sense and the ground to earth, such that when a jack plug is connected to the socket, the power sense wire is grounded, switching on the preamp. 

If replacing a standard strap button with this socket, you will need to drill a hole of approx 12mm centred on the old screw hole through the guitar and into the soundbox for the socket to pass through.
